No. 2 Newell-Fonda Too Much For Alta-Aurelia Softball

ALTA, Iowa - It's very much a different season thus far for the Alta-Aurelia softball team. They have manufactured only two runs over 13 innings of play, culminating with a 12-0 whitewashing in six innings June 16 at the hands of No. 2 ranked (Class 1A) Newell-Fonda.

It recent meeting the Mustangs have had Alta-Aurelia at their mercy winning three straight games.

The Warriors collected only four hits to Newell-Fonda's 14. One of the Warrior newcomers, Ella Walters found success against Mustang pitcher Macy Sievers, finishing 2-of-3 at the plate - both doubles. Singles were credited to Jessica Larson and Alli Magnussen.

Six Mustang batters finished with two hits. Megan Morenz and Bailey Sievers had doubles for Newell-Fonda, who also finished 12-of-12 in steals on the evening.

Macy Sievers was credited with the win tossing six innings. She walked one and struck out 10 Alta-Aurelia batters.

Jenna Nielsen toiled the first four innings for Alta-Aurelia and allowed six earned runs (7 total) to cross home plate. She walked two and was tagged for the loss. Magnussen relieved Nielsen in the fifth inning.

Alta-Aurelia (0-2) is scheduled to host Sioux Central on Wednesday and will wrap up a busy first week to the season on Friday at Manson-NW Webster.
