Former Kingsley Police Chief Pleads Guilty To Domestic Assault Charge

LE MARS, Iowa - Joseph Hoover, the former Kingsley police chief has pleaded guilty to domestic abuse assault. 

HooverHoover, 52, filed his written plea Friday in Plymouth County District Court to one count of domestic abuse assault (a Serious Misdemeanor) in connection with an incident that happened on July 19th of last year, at his Kingsley home. 

After arriving at the residence around 6:30 AM, the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office deputies found a female victim with several injuries to her face and neck.

According to court documents, the woman (Hoover's wife) told deputies that he had struck her with his forearm and shoulder. 

Hoover was suspended as Kingsley Police Chief, with pay, shortly following his arrest, and later resigned.

Hoover's sentencing is scheduled for June 22nd.
