SPENCER, Iowa - 40-year-old Gary Stallings II of Petersonwas arrested on multiple charges after Spencer Police were called to a residence June 11 (last Thursday afternoon) regarding a suspicious person complaint.
Upon law enforcement officers arriving at the residence, located on 12th Avenue West, several individuals fled on foot from police. Law enforcement was able to apprehend one individual, 40-year-old Gary Stallings II of Peterson, who was taken into custody in the 800 block of 14th Ave West.
During their investigation, officers were able to determine Stallings was involved in multiple car burglaries and two different vehicle thefts that occurred during the overnight hours in Spencer. Stallings was also identified as using multiple credit/debit cards that were stolen from the vehicles.
Stallings was charged with Ongoing Criminal Conduct (Class B Felony); FirstDegree Theft, (Class C Felony); four counts of Fraudulent Use of Credit Cards (Aggravated Misdemeanors); two counts of Operating a Motor Vehicle Without the Owner’s Consent (Aggravated Misdemeanors); two counts of Third Degree Burglary (Serious Misdemeanors); and Interference with Official Acts (Simple Misdemeanor).
Stallings is currently being held in the Clay County Jail on a five-thousand dollar bond. Spencer Police were assisted by the Clay County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa State Patrol.
